Sur un tronçon de la rivière Escalote, au sud-ouest de Soria, s'élève la ville de Berlanga de Duero, dont Rodrigo Díaz de Vivar, le Cid Campeador, fut le premier maire.
Au pied de son imposant château se trouve son élégant centre urbain, qui préserve la splendeur de son passé historique sans perdre l'atmosphère médiévale de ses rues pavées et de ses places à arcades. À Berlanga de Duero, se distingue la collégiale, dont la construction a commencé au milieu du XVIe siècle et n'a jamais été achevée.
