Fernando Martínez PeñaFernando Martínez Peña Fernando Martínez Peña holds a PhD in Forestry Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Madrid, specializing in the characterization and valorization of mycological resources. He is currently a Research Fellow at the National Institute of Agricultural and Food Research and Technology (INIA), part of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), where he conducts research in the field of edible mushrooms and the sustainable management of mycological resources.

With more than three decades of experience, he has led pioneering projects in mushroom production, adaptive forestry, mycotourism, and cultivation of ectomycorrhizal mushrooms such as Boletus edulis and Tuber melanosporum. He has directed forestry research centers in Castilla y León and Aragon and promoted networks of permanent plots for the study of mushroom production in a context of global change.
