This Jewrish quarter was the oldest and most important of the city of Leon. It is believed that a significant Jewish community was established here, in the southern hillside of the hill La Mota, on the left bank of Torio River in the X century, where they drove a thriving center of merchants and artisans, until its destruction in 1196. The archaeological remains found make possible to know at present how Jewish communities lived between the X and XII centuries, the utensils used and their traditions.
