Festival of the Exaltation of the Potato
The Day of Exaltation of the Potato , celebrated in Tardajos on the first Sunday of October since 1995 , is a festival that has achieved deep cultural and social relevance in the community. This festival, which in 2024 celebrated its twenty-seventh edition , has established itself as a tradition expected and loved by both local residents and visitors, reflecting the roots and active participation of residents.
The event, declared a Fiesta de Interés de Castilla y León in 2025, is a tribute to the potato, a fundamental agricultural product in the economy and gastronomy of the region. During the celebration, various activities are held, including gastronomic competitions, in which associations and groups participate to make potato omelettes and potato-based stews, which require the preparation of innovative and traditional recipes with various ingredients such as chorizo, roe deer, octopus, cuttlefish, ribs, among others; exquisite stews where potatoes are the protagonists.
