Route through the Plateresque altarpieces in the east of the province of Leon - VALLECILLO - Church of San Pedro Apóstol
Renaissance altarpiece from the second third of the 16th century, consisting of a three-section structure with five sections raised on a predella. It is also topped by a small attic with an image of God the Father , protected by side dust covers. While the predella represents the entire apostolate, the different sections repeat the same compositional scheme, the first being dedicated to the patron saint of the church, Saint Peter, the second to the Virgin, and the third and last to the Passion of Christ . Accompanying the three-section figures in the central section of each of them, the side sections incorporate painted panels with stories about their hagiography and martyrdom and corresponding iconographic cycles.
