The town of Cepeda boasts a rich cultural legacy that reflects the reinterpretation of its historical roots by contemporary society, both the custodian and transmitter of this cultural heritage. In this ongoing dialogue between past and present, the exhibition recovers objects and images from the past and projects them into the present and future. Therefore, the exhibition intertwines ethnographic material with historical works of art and pieces by contemporary artists: Vidal González Arenal, Rosa Gómez, Florencio Maíllo, Rosa Díez, and Eduardo Peñasco.

The first part of the exhibition brings together evidence of the town's historical daily life, creating a space where the past manifests itself both in its essence and in the objects themselves. It offers a documentary and biographical recollection of the lives of its inhabitants: post-wedding attire, weddings, and mourning; the arrival of a baby, its cradle, and lullabies; the utensils used in women's domestic life; economic activity linked to agriculture, wine, and the pig slaughter; as well as men's clothing. The Cepeda family and archival documents complete this journey, bearing witness to the continuity of traditions that still survive in homes.

In the central section, attention shifts to public life, where festivity and faith merge in the offering. The presence of the patron saint, Saint Bartholomew, and the reliquary of Saint Mark symbolize a living devotion, closely linked to popular celebrations. The banner, the drummer, the dancers, and the women carrying branches evoke the ritual and festive dimension, bearing witness to a spirituality that governs the protocol of High Mass, the procession, the offertory, and the dances. Likewise, the memory of the confraternities and of prayer in the church is captured, represented by the patron saint of the Confraternity of the True Cross and its Ecce Homo, in dialogue with primary sources: the works of art themselves, embedded in the society that creates, embraces, and preserves them.

To complete the tour through the essence of the village, photos and tools have been collected and the houses that make up the urban center of Cepeda have been recreated, allowing us to understand the traditional habitat as a material expression of collective identity.
