Fruits and Vegetables
Lettuce, leeks, endives, potatoes, onions, garlic, asparagus, spinach, tomatoes, cabbages, carrots, peppers… as well as legumes that are consumed green such as broad beans, kidney beans and peas, are some of the quality and quantity of vegetables produced by the rich orchards of Castilla y León, which are concentrated largely in the provinces of Segovia and Valladolid, from where, among other products, the famous asparagus produced in Tudela de Duero originate and are destined for some of the best restaurants in Spain.
Fruit production has been and is of great importance in the region, due to the large territorial extension and the diversity of soils and microclimates, giving rise to the existence of districts that stand out for their fruit productions: the cherries of Las Caderechas, in Burgos, the conference pear of El Bierzo, the oranges of Arribes del Duero, the chestnut of Aliste… and among the nuts, the walnuts, almonds and pine nuts of Pedrajas de San Esteban (Valladolid) stand out.
