Mélanie Roy
Mélanie Roy is a research professor in Ecology and Evolution at the University of Toulouse 3 and conducts her research in the Evolution and Biological Diversity laboratory. Fascinated by the diversity of mushrooms, she conducts research projects on their colonies in well-preserved forests, such as boreal forests, the Amazon, Patagonia, and ancient European forests. Her specialization focuses primarily on ectomycorrhizal symbioses, studying not only their diversity but also their biogeographic history and functional importance for some ecosystems facing climate and land-use changes. Through participatory projects, she focuses on the use of mushrooms, mainly in Guyana, and collaborates in the organization of events and mycological inventory missions.
The culinary use of mushrooms, both for culinary and nutritional purposes, is one of his favorite topics.
